49ers open as 7-point favorites over Packers in NFC Championship Game
For the second straight week, the San Francisco 49ers have opened as seven-point favorites against their playoff opponent.
They were seven-point favorites against the Minnesota Vikings in the divisional round, and oddsmakers are favoring them by seven points again this week against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
The 49ers easily covered that spread in Saturday's 27-10 win, and oddsmakers are probably aware of what happened the first time the 49ers and Packers played this season. San Francisco beat Green Bay 37-8 in Week 12, and that was with the Packers coming off of a bye.
In addition, the 49ers did not have pass rusher Dee Ford in that game but still sacked Aaron Rodgers five times and held him to just 104 passing yards. Ford returned from a hamstring injury on Saturday and recorded a sack in limited snaps.
According to the Action Network's Darren Rovell, one bettor placed a $55,000 bet on the 49ers -7 in Vegas as soon as the line opened. If the 49ers cover, that bettor would win $50,000.
The NFC Championship Game kicks off at 3:40 p.m., and the winner will face either the Kansas City Chiefs or Tennessee Titans in the Super Bowl. The AFC Championship Game will end before the NFC Championship Game begins, so the 49ers and Packers will know their opponent should they advance.
